According to us

Our story is not quite one of love at first sight. This can primarily be attributed to the fact that when we first met at TWC rehearsals, Dave was in his work from home (read: unshaven, sweatshirt-and-baseball-hat-wearing) phase of life. Then one day he shaved and put on some real clothes for our concert, Daphne saw what he really looked like…and she liked it. Dave didn’t really “notice” Daphne until she came to rehearsal one evening in her work-out clothes (read: tight legging pants)…you stay classy, Dave.

Once we got beyond these shallow appearance-related first impressions…a friendship started to blossom. It’s not quite clear when things started to take the turn out of Friendville…but it was somewhere at the intersection of when Daphne realized that she had just laughed a little too hard at one of Dave’s jokes (that really wasn’t that funny)…and when Dave realized that Daphne liked (and actually knew) most of the songs in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance!

And that, as they say, was that.

According to The Washington Post’s Reliable Source – November 26, 2012

Love, etc.: Daphne Kiplinger and Dave Steadman

Engaged: Daphne Kiplinger, 27, and Dave Steadman, 32. The design consultant and St. Albans fundraiser met three years ago singing in the Washington Chorus; he popped the question during a concert dress rehearsal Nov. 17. This makes the second generation of the prominent publishing family to fall in love in the chorus — her parents, Knight and Ann Kiplinger, met there more than 30 years ago and are still members.
